Like a moth to a flame
I am drawn to their storm
The fire in their blood
Is what keeps me warm.
Winds howl, rains pelt
And I'm alone with Fear.
But he must be leaving soon,
For I feel Death coming near.
My thoughts fly to the clouds
Where it spits out bolts of light.
I watch the battle from fading eyes;
I am slowly becoming a part of the night.
But I hear two voices,
The two that I hold dear.
They whisper softly to me
And this is what I hear:
"Let not this be your end,
Let not this be your downfall.
My baby girl, you've come so far
Don't let this be your pitfall."
They are the replicas of my heart;
Oh, my pride and my joys!
For I had heard the voices
Of my two thunderstruck boys.

Heart’s Story

In the dark, where light
Dares not venture forth
A heart dwelled, lonely
So cut up and made coarse.
Words of venom had poisoned
This once pure thing
And actions of steel had
Started it’s bleeding.
Once strong and whole,
Now lay weak and broken
It waits for a cure;
It waits to be chosen.
In the dark, it waits and
Watches people going by.
No one will help stop it,
No one will see it cry.
And into this darkness
Where it believed it lived final hours
A light so pure came upon it
Shining ever so powerfully,
Blinded, the heart was
Shocked; where it come
From? Afraid to see what it does.
And the light stroked it
Gently, bringing with it calm
Oh how lovely it felt!
And how brightly it shone!
The heart watched scars go
Away, blood rushed back
Poisoned veins made clean
No more blue and black.
And in wonder the heart
Heard the light speak
It spoke only a single name
One that made it so weak:
“Jorge” it said
And was all it said
But that name was of Heaven
Without it, it would be dead.
The name rang clear and sweet;
A beacon of life for the heart.
No more would it feel pain
No more would it fall apart.

No matter who I saw,
It always felt like you were gone.
I knew it was all wrong

I should have said something to see what would be
I know it’s over and long ago,
But I have this thought

Just to hear about your accomplishments and goals
Makes me feel so damn proud.
I always get this feeling when I hear something about you,
Like I’m floating on a cloud.

My little boy who I can tell anything
My man who can keep me out of harm
My teenager who can listen to me
My love who lets me sleep in his arms.

One of those cheating wives.

Soul Racing

The strength I needed came from your laughter
The courage I wanted came from your smile
I stayed the flow of tears when I heard your voice
Echoing into the chamber of my heart, as long as a mile
Shadows of fear, of worry, of hurt
Disappeared as fast as they had come.
Anything that had been tender with pain
Had left when you talked; they came undone.
I used to live wild and carefree
You turned me into someone who considers the world more
I think about the future, and try to see it clearly
I ponder what it will be like to walk out and over to your door.
This universe is destined for what it makes of itself
As is the fate of people everywhere
I know I was destined to find you in my heart, sooner or later
I just had to open my eyes to see you there.

The Long Wait for Life

Extended metaphor]

The long wait for life
When the patience of a thousand warriors
Cannot hold still
The dreams of the young heart.
The aching of the lonely, winding roads
Calls to the slighting of the turbulent wind
As the quick gallop of a young stallion
Passes through the open sea of field.
And when the galloping has ceased its sound
Only the wind and soft munching of its mouth can be heard
Only then can those warriors regain their confidence
And start their quest all over again.



Our Poor World

See the sun from the side of the moon
Where the snow always stays frozen
And the waters run deep at high tide
Watch the sand walk away from Earth
And float into the atmosphere where
The angels shake their beautiful heads
In disgust at how we have turned out
Over the years that we have grown.
Or perhaps we’ve shrank, where our
Intelligence has overcome instincts
And the new world is not so new after all.
If we as one, can fix what is now pieces
We stand a chance of making what is meant
To be a whole, and not a hole.
